Toward a digimob logo - Page 3 Empty ANSI Art version of logo?

Post  sendoshin Wed Dec 30, 2009 4:34 am

I spent a (very short) amount of time converting the "egg" logo into ANSI art for possible inclusion in future torrents' NFO files. Since there is no way to attach files to posts, ANSI art never looks right outside of an NFO viewer of some sort anyway, and links to file hosting services are frowned upon, how should I provide access to my NFO file? I would really like to contribute something to this effort.

Hi sendoshin, I dont think there is anything wrong with posting a link to a file host as long as it is not violating copyright. If in doubt just put the link in a 'code' box so that it is not a live link.

As an alternative there is always the gmail address :
occult . digital . mobilization[at]gmail . com

An ANSI 'egg' could be pretty neat! It might not make it in time for digest #27, but keep at it and maybe we can get it added for #28. Smile

Alright, I'll do both. Very Happy

Code:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/a1549ac/n/digimob_logo_invert.nfo

And I'll send the email in just a moment. It will be from sendoshin [at] gmail . com.

P.S. - I thought I should point out that it would look much better if I had access to a vector version of the graphic, such as the .ai file mentioned earlier, as those tend to scale - and convert to 1-bit color - better than their pixel-based counterparts. Wink

Toward a digimob logo - Page 3 Empty Too late by a day...

Post  sendoshin Wed Dec 30, 2009 7:07 pm

Well, as it turns out, I was just barely too late for Digest 27, which should be making its way to a tracker near you shortly... That means #28 (or perhaps a mega-digest?) will be the first to include the new DigiMob logo and an NFO instead of a handful of text files. It would still be nice to have a copy of the vector version of the logo so I can make a somewhat cleaner ANSI version, but either way, things are still moving right along.

In the vein of using the new logo within the site, and since it is already in use on the Release Index, I thought it might be good to integrate it somehow into the banner already at the top of the forums. This is what I came up with:

A full-size version is available on the Release Index server.

That is no cake its a Christmas pudding! When I first looked at the digimob logo I thought of Christmas pudding.. Or more like this:

Then I realised it was a mountain.. Maybe I've had too much Christmas. bounce santa

OK, good, because the cake is a lie!

I didn't make the logo. I've just been adapting it for use on the site and in the releases.

Toward a digimob logo - Page 3 Empty Suggestion

Post  baruck Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:16 pm

I have a suggestion for a motto that can accompany the logo:

In Libris Libertas = In books (there is) freedom

Or

Optimus magister, bonus liber = The best teacher is a good book

Just a sugestion of latim motto.

Isn't it the case that the 'books' are facilitators of work? If so, focusing on that work rather than the 'books', might be appropriate.

Lots of 'occultists' read books. Few actually do the work they've been called to do. Which audience do you think we're trying to assist?

The ones who are willing to even read something in the first place, I'd say. I know a few "occultists" that refuse to read anything about the occult, believing solely in the oral tradition they're familiar with. There's nothing wrong with oral traditions, but refusing to even consider written ones is about as close-minded as one can get, which of course limits the effectiveness of the work. So yes, we're targeting those willing to act on the knowledge we share, but only if they're willing to read it.

Still, Libris isn't quite the best word, since a good deal of our information is not in book form. There are a large number of multimedia files in the Releases, for example. So perhaps something along the lines of "work" instead of "books"?

On the other hand, I might use something meaning to reveal and make accessible, such as "pateo", since our primary purpose is to "de-occult" the occult, as mentioned in the forum banner. Something to consider.

since this form provides help in matters that are considered occult and religious .. I think one should look into the Pope Card
