"Vatican Not Happy Avatar Promotes Nature Worship" -

“Avatar” is raking it in at the box office, but the Vatican says it’s bad for business.

The film was panned by both the Vatican’s newspaper and radio station for going green over God.

The newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, said the film “gets bogged down by a spiritualism linked to the worship of nature.” While the radio station said it turns “ecology into the religion of the millennium.”

L’Osservatore Romano also ripped the plot and blamed director James Cameron for his “bland approach.”

Pope Benedict has been nicknamed the “green Pope” for promoting eco-friendly lifestyles, but Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi said the statements do reflect the Pope’s views, specifically the dangers of turning nature into a divinity.
