So...Let's Talk About The Succubus
in one of our digests an article by phil hine appeared called "cacodemonic copulations" which can be read here
now, as phil mentions, modern magical literature either completely ignores or cultivates fear of the "demon-lover". it seems that only the chaos current has addressed a practical application, the reason being that austin osman spare worked with "shadow women" and the sexual energy created by sublimating erotic desire into the unconscious mind, a practice researched and carried forward by peter carroll and his elite IOT. i'm starting this thread to get a general feel on people's experience with or opinion of the demonic lover. also, in my opinion the three "exit strategies" phil provides in the final paragraph are inadequate and require elaboration, so i'm also asking if anyone has had specific experience in besting or dissuading a sexual obsession of this caliber.
i have almost no hands-on experience with this phenomenon, but theoretically i feel that there are more efficient ways to guarantee the power remains firmly grounded in the magician, i.e. ensuring that orgasm is never reached while fantasizing, but only while a sigil or magical goal is the object of all concentrated sexual energies. actually, for such workings i recommend that orgasm never occur while conscious, the frustrated energy built up by denial of release thus sublimating into the dream mind, making the bond between wizard and familiar stronger. in such an exercise fantasies should be subdued and concentration should be squarely fixed on an object of magical desire.
feedback, thoughts, ideas, general discussion are welcome and invited.

Re: So...Let's Talk About The Succubus
Hrm... I've not worked in this schema before so I can't comment with any authority, but I do have a colleague who has. Unfortunately, he's pretty consumed with it all, rarely leaves his house, and is rather uncongenial. He's pretty antagonistic towards most modern technology, too... I think he probably has predispositions that've contributed to this orientation and wouldn't suggest that it's an inevitable byproduct of the study... but if you start enjoying the company of succubi more than people, be careful.
