I used to have this book by A.T. Mann, "The Divine Life: Astrology and Reincarnation" and it was an excellent resource for modern metaphysical thought and history as well as inspiration for countless paradigm manipulations.

It was an unbiased collection of theories and cultural references. On that note I'm trying to remember the title of this excellent novel that was extremely long about a soul's journey through several reincarnations including a life as a tiger. It was highly detailed and is the only reference I've found to this 'Jahti' or a reincarnating family. It was set throughout almost a millenia of Indian/African history. I can't remember the title or the author. =( I do remember that the title was some sort of reference to a time period (Something like 765 years...or some shit like that). It was like 7 years ago that I read the book...

FOUND IT!!! The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson

OMFG!!! that book moved me so much it raises to be on par with The Stone and the Flute by Hans Bemman (Greatest novel ever IMHO).
