Nickylubu: i sent you a message on PaganSpace the other day, but forgot to follow up. so basically, my problem with TheOccult is that they make it a pain in the ass to maintain a decent ratio. right now i've dl'ed and am seeding back all their Free torrents, but it doesnt seem to be helping much. and i know i'm not supposed to go all out and dl everything in sight that i want. im just trying to build up a big buffer so that i can dl what i really want without having to think "well shit, is this torrent going to put my ratio in the hole?". just the other day i was promoted from beginning rank (whatever its called i cant remember) to Power User, and within hours was demoted right back to the lowest level. i just dont get how their system works, but i dl a torrent, let it finish, and then leave it running in my client basically indefinitely. i've got about 20 right now that i've finished dl'ing weeks ago and they are still loaded in the client. i'm not doing this on my home pc either, i've got a seedbox that allows for unlimited downspeed bandwidth, 3terabyte upspeed bandwidth, a 1 TB hard disk, and a total max network connection of 10 MBPS........thats right, not a 1gbps, but TEN. and i'm sharing it with only 2 other ppl. so the downspeed is no prob, just the other day i loaded a 6 gig torrent and watched it finish literally just a mere 43 seconds after inputting it. its just that i leave all of them running for weeks, and they each say "Uploading" in the status bar.....................but when i look at the Ratio and actual Upload speed column, it just says 0 for ratio and never ul's anything to anyone. on a handful it does have a Ratio thats above 0 and says i'm ul'ing becuase i can see the upspeed fluctuating back and forth, but not for most. so WTF is going on?! its as if im being penalized for everything i dl, and even tho i leave it running indefinitely i never seem to get any credit. so i really have to know, for all of you TO members here, what are some good tactics for maintaining a good ratio? and what am i doing wrong? i need explicit details. i've joined several private trackers so far and im still stumped as to what i'm doing wrong, because this phenomenon is happening with all of them and not just TO. at the rate im going i'll barely be able to keep my ratio at 1.0. i wont settle for that, because it feels like a struggle just to maintain a ratio, much less to be able to dl thhe things i really want without threat of demotion or some other bullshit. for most of mytorrenting past i'e dl'ed from trackers like Piratebay and demonoid, where ratio doeesnt matter so much, if at all. this private torrent stuff is new to me, only been doing it for less than 4 months. havent been banned anywhere yet. but probably will be soon if i dont figure this out. and i'm not trying to circumvent any rules or otherwise game the system. so help me out plz............reply soon.

need ratio help/advice Empty In Response

Post  Enigma Sat Nov 20, 2010 2:00 pm

i'm not on anything, i just so happen to write large paragraphs without indenting or spacing. blame it on me not listening to my English teacher in middle/high school. its something i'll have to work on. and next time, maybe you could be more helpful? i'm in no way trying to disrespect a DigiMob admin, and you can take retribution any way you wish if you feel it necessary, but if someone posts a topic asking for help then the least you can do is post a comment that's both helpful and at least directly relevant to the question being asked. i'll respect you given your admin status, but i WILL NOT let anyone, including you, imply that i'm a drug addict or on some kind of mental health meds and need to "halve the dose". i dont accept disrespect from anyone, not even ppl in authority in any given community. im just letting you know that i think your comment was extremely disrespectful and distasteful, and nonhelpful. on the other hand, i dont want problems with you in the future, and its my full intention to be a contributing member of this community. i do though, think that your response was a result of my comment yesterday stating that you should be dethroned of your admin status. but perhaps you noticed (or maybe not, considering that your the cynic of this community) that i put a Rolling Eyes/Smiley Face emoticon right after it, which means i was joking . so if thats what triggered this, then try to lighten up a little. and if another Admin other than you jumps in to respond, then i would fully expect them to side with you regardless of who is right/wrong, simply because i'm new here and both of you would have something in common, being that you guys run this community and i dont. and if that will be the case, then i'll gladly and gracefully walk away from here and never return.

Yeah, whatever. You know I'm not an admin. I already explained that I had to hack my account to get the title and respect that I deserve.

Anyway, it takes a couple of lines to ask how to improve your ratio. And the answer is simple, too: share new stuff, or reshare large files that don't have (m)any seeds.

well, then i'll say this, i just dont like your attitude, so from here on out i choose to ignore you. i will remain here and contribute as long as i can and try to be helpful, but since i feel that your very cynical and like to talk down to others instead of offering advice, then i have no wish to associate myself personally with you. at the same time, we can still coexist peacefully, so long as i leave you alone and you do the same. i dont expect you to apologize nor do i want one, but dont expect one from me either. another thing, you have written 2 posts to this topic, and in the time it took you to write those, you could just as easily have wrote a short paragraph with tips on how to improve ratio. if that were the case, then maybe i might have a little more respect and a higher opinion of you. so if you wish me gone, then i suggest you either ban me now, or just ask me to leave and i will.

For the record, I'm not taking either side here, but can we please calm down and get back on topic? If you don't have anything constructive to contribute, then please refrain from contributing.

Post  Enigma Fri Nov 26, 2010 6:03 pm

im trying to be constructive, and i have no personal problem with Amanda, since i dont know her anyway, but i do not appreciate her implying that i'm a drug addict simply because i asked for advice with boosting ratio on private torrent trackers like theoccult.bz. so what if my paragraph was a bit long, that gives her no right, even as admin here, to make a comment such as what you see above. perhaps she didnt consider that i felt the need to give an in-depth explanation, on the basis that the more you guys would be able to advise if i provide more details about the problem. I was just standing up for my rights and being, in a word, assertive, without trying to argue with her. on the other hand, i have no wishes to converse with her on a personal level, and from this point onward i refuse to associate with or speak to her at all except to the extent of honoring any requests she may make of me regarding the rules here, etc, and only if the request she's making is reasonable. i came here to contribute, not argue, but if someone thinks they have the right to talk down to me just because they're in a position of power, or anyone else for that matter, then i wont hesitate to speak my mind. most people would naturally respond defensively if someone said something negative to/about them or made the implication that that person was something that they arent. so i will give no apology because i feel i have done nothing wrong, and im not here to cause trouble. thats all i have to say. i do suggest, however, that if you admins want me gone then all of you should get together and ask me to leave, i'll gladly go. its up to you.

i am probably better off cancelling my account here at digimob. you admins dont need to ask me to leave, im out of here.....................but before i go, how do i delete the account? there is no option for this under my profile. im not content with just leaving here, i want my username removed from the database, in addition to all my posts. can one of you do it for me? in fact, i'd like to ask Amanda to do it, im sure she'll have no problem whatsoever with removing me. thanks.
