Hey I have a question but it's of topic...
I search for something that is safe to use and can cause clairvoyance or astral sight, so basically something hallucinogen... I've seen many drugs like LSD & DMT and a lot of mushroom that are used for this purpose...
Does anybody know what is good and safe for that type of usage and is easy to find (not make).
Thanks

To ensure this question got the attention it warrants, I've split it off to form its own thread.

How much experience with LSD, DMT and fungi do you have?

Here are a few others known for their dream-inducing properties: Calea zacatechichi, silene Capensis (Ubulawu)Valerian, Entada rheedii, etc.

Salvia divinorum's probably among the most potent visionary herbs you'll have access to... but there's lots of designer oneirogens too.

Have you read any of Dale Pendell's work?

Experience with drugs = zero...
I would like to hear personal experiences if anyone ever tried some of them...
Anyway I need something that would help me induce a visions for evocations and at a same time a steady mind that will not go astray by itself... Wink

I've experimented with a great many entheogens, but there are many who make me look like a complete amateur.

If you're just venturing into this territory, it might help to have more information on how you'd like to use the sacraments. What would you like to accomplish? Do you have a safe place? How much time do you want to invest? Do you want to do it alone or with companions?

I would use it alone, and for an evocation to induce in me astral sight, so I could easily establish communication with intelligences... so here comes this that I don't want it to be to aggressive or it could easily induce daydreaming effect...
Salvia divinorum looks OK but its hard to find...

Salvia is definitely aggressive and very jealous. To get started, you might try Toro & Thomas's Drugs of the Dreaming Oneirogens: Salvia divinorum and Other Dream Enhancing Plants, and attempt something a bit more tame - like mugwort.

Finally, it's not unfamiliar territory for many practicing occultists, but I recommend you keep thorough records of your experimentations. Wink

Perhaps...

You could try Salvia divinorum in a low dose, if that is all you can get your hands on just make sure you have a spotter! My only experience with mescaline was very malleable and organic with an incredibly pleasant sense of otherworldly intuition. Depends on where you live, in the States it can be more of an issue to acquire entheogenic substances, perhaps you could take a trip somewhere more hospitable?

In a ceremonial setting, even soft drugs can produce genuine hypnagogic effects. As both a practicing occultist and a user of various recreational and sacramental substances I will risk mentioning that you should have a firm basis to work from before taking mind altering substances during ritual if you're looking for profitable experience. Try marajuana or watered alcohol in small doses first. Lack of clarity may turn you off to the whole concept. If you have trouble thinking straight or keeping a clear record then the methods are killing the intention. Never work a ritual without a formal intention to some good end. A lack of clear intention, in fact a lack of necessity can often derail the process.

In a sense using a mind altering ethnogen or hallucinogen in concert with ritual is like super charging the system; akin to astral steroids - but! and here's the main point of contention any serious Magician would consider in your case: From the sound of it, you have very little familiarity with yoga, ceremonial magic and the associated states and sensations native to the astral plane. Not all the denizens of the Yetziratic world are really alive, some you create, some draw from your projections. How to tell? Would you really want to meet living entities while tripping? Important questions.

Whenever skrying for astral vision (we'll discuss the problem of evocation/invocation) there must be some kind of test when & if one receives a "message". In the Golden Dawn, one would give the sign of your grade and the spirit would reciprocate in various ways determined by its relevancy to the nature of the planet, Godform, work, Portal, etc. or be found to be a false image, mental creation or at worst an elemental. In Thelema, you used the aforesaid method but also give the first half of the Thelemic credo (DWTWSBTWOTL) and the spirit must finish the formula (LITLLUW) or be blasted by the Crowned & Conquering Aeonic forces, etc.

The idea of 'testing' visions during vision is what separates hack spiritualists from working magicians. One would not, for any reason, want to simply throw oneself into the astral, as one soon finds that at the beginning stages of practice that 99.9999% of all the impressions are self-made and must be overcome. Without some kind of verifiable test one could make the mistake of taking subjective imagery for objective and vice-versa. Adding the use of ehtnogenic substance will not only produce a more violent reaction, but it will tend to be highly mental, glamourous, dreamy and relegated wholly to the lower astral, and most tending to bolster the ego. One ends up inadvertently getting access to their own subconscious, which although useful & cathartic in ways, can be rather chaotic and unbalanced.

Have you considered beginning formal practices to access the 'astral'? Just curious.

Actually no, I have good backgrounds in this things, but I'm not traditionalist, I mean like doing things my way tongue. (please don't comment on this Razz )

Yes of course, under the guidance of Bardon books.
Now I decided to use the full system described into PME to make a physical contact...
The seeing of spirits happened me few times doring such rituals, but only in my head (hard to describe, and it's not imaginary), and gave me not so much confidence.

At this point I'm uncertain if using mind stimulating drugs would help me, ahhh well we'll see how the things would go...

Anyway, your post was great, thanks clearing few things for me AxisMundi Very Happy

Psychoactives and Astral Projection

Post  Riddance on Mon Dec 07, 2009 6:31 pm

I know very little of astral travel besides random dreams.

I do however, know quite a bit about drugs.
The best thing I have found, dream wise, is C. Zacatechichi.

One Handfull (1 joint and the rest in tea).
This amount will push your dream world's limits. Guaranteed multiple connected dreams. Increased Lucidity. Be careful.
The natives recommend:
Two Handfull (2 joints and the rest in tea).
To speak with the Gods in your dreams.

It is the nastiest tasting stuff. Be focused when you drink to prevent gagging and go to sleep soon after drinking. Otherwise you will become very dreamy but not in any particular way you have ever felt before.

Either way. The experiences can be intense. As with any psychoactive start with small doses and work up.

Anyway, Good luck.

I'd be interested to see what you come up with.

Thanks for reply Riddance.
I abandoned idea of exploring drugs, at least for now... I feel it's not the thing I am looking for. Idea is moving to producing drugs Razz geek

as an afterthought to this thread...

MDMA

if you've got any experience using entheogens to break on thru to the other side, this drug traditionally used for "partying" can snap you into trance with almost zero effort on the part of the magician. it doesn't really have any "hallucinatory" componenets, but with even a basic concept of astral travel, the effect can be dramatic. i discovered myself completely detached on an astral tundra gazing into odin's crusty empty eye-socket and learned runelore that only an archetype could teach me. a lot of occultists outside the chaos community seem to think that this drug is a drag, or that all of its benefits are illusory, i disagree wholeheartedly; i have never connected with my tools so strongly or been so receptive to influences from the astral. for this reason I DO NOT RECOMMEND SEEKING VISIONARY EXPERIENCES USING MDMA IF YOU ARE NOT 100% CONFIDENT IN YOUR BANISHING TECHNIQUES OR WITHOUT A GOAL. an aimless journey through the world of ritualized use of this psychiatric substance could, i sense, possibly lead to crippling self-delusion. as a recreational drug (it's popular use) it creates a sense of euphoria that is unrivaled, and the total disintegration of anxieties, a sudden fascination with the senses, and a childlike curiosity towards the body. i would suggest creating a ritual with a tailored goal (mine was to reach new understanding of runemal) and a specific banishing (i chose an ouranian incantation) about a week in advance. concentration while still within the body can be compromised by this substance, so, to ensure success, flowery ceremonial free-mason style formal rituals are not ideal, a shamanistic "dream journey" approach, in my opinion, is more effective. wait for at least 45 minutes after the "head-change" comes on before beginning the ritual. do enjoy the recreational benefits before and after, it doesn't all have to be serious. NEVER ATTEMPT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITH THE VASTLY INFERIOR AND UNRELIABLE "ECSTASY" PILLS SOLD ON THE STREET, they are typically less than 20% MDMA and the majority of them do not have a trace of this chemical, but instead are MDA based, a cousin chemical that is similar in effect to meth-amphetamine.

just had to rep it, since i didn't see it mentioned.
