Frederick Hockley

93,

As some may be aware Teitan Press recently published Hockley's "A Complete Book of Magick Science" which is a rather interesting little grimoire related to the Secret Grimoire of Turiel. Apparently, Teitan has planned a Hockley series, including a revised edition of "The Rosicrucian Seer" originally published by Aquarian Press in the 80's (and available in one of the past torrents). There are various other interesting works forthcoming and I offer a link with more info on them: Forthcoming Titles

Most works lately seem to focus either on the early Spirtualist movement or the later GD current and tend to skip over this intermediary period when spiritualists became magicians. Hockley and his group are the groundwork for the GD and it's wonderful to finally see what material was being distributed amongst this group and what practices they were engaging in.

93 93/93.

(1809-1885) British occultist who was a member of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia. Hockley collected some important occult texts, including a Rosicrucian manuscript belonging to Sigismond Bacstrom, who was initiated into an occult society in Mauritius in 1794. This text had a great influence on British occultism. Hockley had some gift of crystal gazing and was a close friend of Kenneth R. H. Mackenzie and other British Rosicrucians and occultists of his period. He was a pupil of Francis Barrett, author of The Magus (1801). Hockley died November 10, 1885.
