A.'. A.'. grades

Hello. Could someone remind me at which grade of the A.'. A.'. one is expected to complete the task described in the Liber Thisarb? Also, if anyone has a link to document containing Crowley's description of the grades, in which he gives this information, please post it if you will. Thank you.

0. This book is not intended to lead to the supreme attainment. On the contrary, its results define the separate being of the Exempt Adept from the rest of the Universe, and discover his relation to that Universe.

As Amanda Chen points out the majority of Crowley’s Class B Libri are addressed to a specific Grade. (Class B being “…generally scholarly works of an informative and practical nature.” Eshelman, James, The Magical and Mystical System of the A.’.A.’., p. 224.)

I would suggest that you look at Liber Viarum Viae sub figura 868. Here the Libri are assigned to the paths of the Tree and you may extrapolate to the Grades themselves from there. I have found a lot of practical answers regarding the A.’.A.’. curricula by cross referencing these attributions to One Star in Sight and Liber Collegii Sancti sub figura 185. (Most of Crowley's Libri may be found at http://hermetic.com/crowley/)

Regarding Liber Thisharb, Jim Eshelman writes “Liber Thisharb, Viae Memoriae (The Book of the Journey of the Memory) is primarily a 7º=4▫ instruction in the recovery of past life memories. However, its deeper purpose, the conscious discovery of the True Will, is entirely suited to the Grade of Zelator.” (op. cit., p. 92). Further Eshelman writes “Thisharb – בראשית – is Berashith (the Hebrew title of Genesis, i.e. “in the beginning”) spelled backwards." (op. cit., p. 161). While we are informed that the successful completion of Liber Thisharb by the Exempt Adept is the concluding task before beginning the crossing of the Abyss, I would suggest that this process might need to be ongoing before one technically reaches the Grade of Adeptus Exemptus.

The exercise seems so simple to grasp, but there are all the usual ego dangers - dangers of self-delusion, etc. - probably more so here than with other exercises. I think that's one of the reasons why this is assigned to the 7=4.

Audeo, I don't know if you are doing this on your own, with a teacher, or within a group, but you should certainly try to find one-on-one guidance for this.

I believe the answer I was looking for was given in line 24 of the manuscript:
"...let the Exempt Adept meditate upon the fruitlessness of all those years, and upon the fruit thereof, severing that which is transitory and worthless from that which is eternal. And it may be that he being but an Exempt Adept may hold all to be savourless and full of sorrow."
Might I add, what a fine example of positive thinking, to suggest that one might at that point not find the cycle of incarnation "savourless and full of sorrow"!
I do not have an A.'. A.'. teacher. I have met someone in the order, but I think his role in my life is another position. If you would care to refer me to a person or a place I might go to, I am currently about 80 miles from New Orleans.
