Looks like the dude's used to having the power of some kind of autosuggestion over people? Or maybe he's just 100% fraud, nothing else. The "tongue" explanation makes the latter seem likely.

The scene with the guy being beaten up in the competition was pretty interesting... It looks like he doesn't move when his opponent comes up and kicks him in the face. That suggests that he honestly expected his technique to work -- i.e., he believes his own claims.
